By installing, accessing, or using the Chatrat VSCode extension ("the Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the Service.
2. Description of Service
Chatrat is a VSCode extension that:
- Indexes your local codebase to create searchable metadata
- Provides an MCP (Model Context Protocol) server for LLM integration
- Enables file-based context sharing with AI language models
- Operates entirely on your local machine
3. License and Usage Rights
Subject to these Terms, we grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the Service for personal and commercial purposes. You may:
- Install and use the extension on multiple devices
- Use the Service with any compatible LLM or AI service
- Index and reference your own codebases
4. User Responsibilities
You are responsible for:
- Ensuring you have the right to index and share code files you process
- Complying with your organization's policies regarding code sharing
- Maintaining the security of your development environment
- Using the Service in compliance with applicable laws and regulations
- Not attempting to reverse engineer, modify, or distribute the Service
5. Prohibited Uses
You may not use the Service to:
- Process code you do not have permission to access or share
- Violate any intellectual property rights

- All code processing happens locally on your machine

8. Limitation of Liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR:
- Any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages
- Loss of data, profits, or business opportunities
- Damages arising from your use of third-party LLM services
- Any damages exceeding $100 in the aggregate
9. Updates and Modifications
We may:
- Update the Service to add features, fix bugs, or improve performance

Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
10. Termination
You may stop using the Service at any time by uninstalling the extension. We may terminate your access if you violate these Terms. Upon termination:
- Your license to use the Service ends immediately
- You should uninstall the extension and delete any local data
- Provisions regarding liability and disputes will survive termination
